Webct Export via WebDAV

Exporting course via file download (either zipped or WebDAV) is not usually advisable because the user would be getting the files but not the course structure. An IMS export package contains not only the files, but also calendar info, discussions assignment dropbox info, quizzez, and question database and the structure which links them. However, there may be certain cases when moving only the files are advised.

Disadvantages:

• Copies files but not course structure
• Many important course components not copied

Advantages:

• If the course is being totally redesigned, then copying the files without the structure allows the courses developer to implement a new course organization.
•  Copying all the files will insure that files not linked are included in the migration.
• Can be accomplished by the instructor without admin intervetion.
