Training & Support

Training Management System Available

To simplify our training management system at DSCC, I've created a (PHP/MySQL) training management system.  At the moment it allows individuals to register for training sessions online and check which sessions they've registered for.  Soon it will allow trainers to see who's registered for each of their sessions and check off participants as they complete each training.  Please email me green+AT+dscc+dot+edu-(please make the appropriate substitutions if you're not a spam bot) if you're interested in the code.  I'll try to get a screencast up later this week.

DSCC Training Schedule now available:

We had discussed  the possibility of allowing those from other institutions to sit in on training at other campus on a space available basis.  To facilitate this, the DSCC Training Calendar is below. (or will be once I figure out how to get the embed to work)

Please note that our training space is quite limited, so please email me at green+AT+dscc+dot+edu-(please make the appropriate substitutions if you're not a spam bot) if you want to attend a DSCC training session.

Hello All,

I was wondering about some general info about how you're going to go about your training. Which tools do you think you'll be introducing to your faculty/faculty trainers first?

Our first group to be trained are our faculty who teach the fully online courses. We'll first go through a series of sessions where they will review their course to decide if they want to revise some of the content.

Then, since they are going to need a comprehensive set of tools like they had before, we'll be training them the following, in this order:
(this is subject to change because I'm still working on this)

Content modules (because they want to know how to move their stuff !)
Quizzes
Email
Discussion
Calendar
Grades
Dropbox
User Links
FAQ
Other things to be determined.

Thanks for any input you can reply with!

We had spoken on one of the conference calls about the possibility of campuses making spare seats in their trainings available to those from other campuses who would like to attend.  How might we get this process going?  Could we identify a contact person at each campus who would be aware of which sessions had empty seats?
